Through hard-work and meaningful advocacy, MFPE members significantly and consistently increase our strength and our commitment to good government programs and services. Our hard-working public employee members do the Work That Matters in our communities throughout Montana.

These are exciting times. MFPE members are hard at work and creating success! There’s no better example of success than the work MFPE members did to negotiate and pass the state employee pay plan in 2019. Members voiced their priorities for pre-budget negotiations, the bargaining team ran with those priorities, work at the table was communicated, membership was engaged, and the result: a pre-budget deal membership is proud of – the widest scope of improvements we’ve ever bargained.

· A $0.50 per hour wage increase in 2020 and 2021 (Total of $1,040 each year!)
· Health insurance out-of-pocket cost freeze
· Availability to flex Columbus Day through local bargaining
· Ability to bargain increased holiday benefit hours for those who work shifts greater than eight hours.
· Per diem increases
· Protection for state employee health clinic benefits

Now the next round of pre-budget bargaining begins, and we need your help! Our time is now to work hard and create success for the 2021 & 22 pre-budget negotiations and state employee pay plan.

Very soon, MFPE members will again sit down with representatives of Governor Steve Bullock and begin pre-budget negotiations. If pre-budget negotiations prove successful, the governor will embed the results in the budget he submits to the 2021 legislature for the 2023 biennium. Then, of course, we must all work together to push what we negotiated through the legislature. As usual the more hands on deck, the more likely we will succeed. To begin this process, we need to hear from you: MFPE state employee and higher education members. Participate in the bargaining survey, communicate your priorities, and encourage fellow members to do the same. We are stronger together!
