MEA-MFT COPE endorses Rob Quist for Congress
MEA-MFT, Montana’s largest labor union and affiliate of the Montana AFL-CIO, has announced that its Committee On Political Education (COPE) has endorsed Rob Quist for Congress in Montana’s special election.
MEA-MFT is 18,000 public and private sector employees doing work that matters across Montana in state and local governments, k-12 public schools, higher education, Head Start, and health care.
The elected members of MEA-MFT COPE live and work in communities scattered across Montana and represent all of MEA-MFT’s different membership groups. MEA-MFT COPE members are Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.
“Rob Quist stands with us on the issues that unite us as MEA-MFT members,” said MEA-MFT President Eric Feaver. “He will be an independent voice for Montana in the U.S. Congress. As a small businessman from a Montana ranching family and an accomplished, renowned musician who has for years traveled every highway and byway in our state, Quist knows hard work, and he knows Montana. Rob will fight to help Montana families get ahead, strengthen our public schools, provide quality health care for all, and keep public lands public.”
Feaver continued, “Finally, despite repeated invitations, Greg Gianforte has just as repeatedly refused to meet with us to talk about the issues. So from close observation of his failed candidacy for governor, his unwillingness to articulate support for the Montana labor movement, and his unrelenting advocacy for the privatization of our excellent public schools, we cannot and will not support Greg Gianforte’s candidacy for any public office.”
