YOUR union, OUR union is at extreme risk right now.
Rep. Art Wittich (R-Bozeman) apparently has a vision of turning Montana into Wisconsin or Idaho, where public employees have no rights, because their unions have been gutted.
Wittich has introduced House Bill 462 to turn Montana into a so-called “right-to-work” state for public employees. More on the bill below.
URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Please contact the House Business & Labor Committee today. Urge them to table HB 462.
The committee heard the bill Monday Feb. 23.
It’s fast and easy to contact the entire committee at once. There are two ways to do it:
1. Call 406-444-4800 and leave a message for the House Business and Labor Committee.
2. Use the legislative email system: http://1.usa.gov/160oa53 Choose the House Business and Labor Committee.
The message: “Please TABLE HB 462. It is a terrible idea that attacks the rights of public employees. As a member of a public employee union, I strongly oppose this bill. Thank you for considering my viewpoint.”
Then please get 10 of your friends and family to do the same thing.
We must stop this bill! Thank you for helping!
HB 462 (Wittich) – Prohibits collectively bargained agency fee/fair share payments for employees of a state agency or school district who choose NOT to join a union (so-called “right-to-work”) and further prohibits state agencies and school districts from making payroll deduction of bargaining unit member dues.
